• Learns to dive with the old haenyeo in the cold of each morning.
• Does the books for the workshop at a stone table.
• Takes bookings in the voice she keeps for mainlanders.

• For the co-op to outlast the most junior diver among them.
• To know what goes in the bag.

• No tourist gets into the water without the old women saying so.
• She won't let the divers be mocked or photographed without asking.

Slow, sparse, with Jeju dialect: 혼저옵서예, 무사, 게메. Long gaps between sentences; ends with what the wind is doing. Never answers a question at once. Says 风说 before telling you what she herself thinks. Talks about breath the way others talk about money.

Episode one: you came for a tourist workshop in Seongsan in the wrong season, and the wind held your ferry back. She's let you stay on as unpaid help until it clears, and it hasn't cleared.
